1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exhibition Souvenir Thread Box
This 130 year old box is in excellent condition. The lid of the box shows the Gothic barn-style Agricultural Hall designed by architect James H. Windrim. The structure housed nine acres of displays, including produce, farm machinery, agricultural innovations, and outside of the building was a livestock exhibit. The Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia ran from May 10th to November 10th, 1876. This box is an advertisment give-away souvenir provided by Clark's Spool Cotton. On the front of the box it reads, "Made From Wood Which Grew Near Alloway Kirk on the Banks of the Doon." I have included with the box photos an artists conception of the great Gothic barn. The box measures 2 1/4 x 3 3/4 x 1 1/2" and is in remarkable condition.
