Large Antique Chinese Bronze Koro ( Tripod Urn ) 19th Century
This Chinese bronze Koro is wonderful. The dragon-like animal on this 19th Century urn is the Kefin. It is the emblem of perfect good, and is a composite animal both male and female. Considered a Chinese unicorn, it has a dragon's head, deer hoofs, a bushy tail and flaming shoulders. It is considered one of the four supernatural creatures along with the Phoenix, which is the emblem of The Empress, having the head of a pheasant, a long neck, a swallow's beak and many-colored plumage. The claws are always depicted turned backward in flight. The pine branches are emblems of long life. This imposing and elegant piece is in excellent condition. The Kefin is attached to the lid in only one spot. The measurements are 9'' X 12'' X 17'' high.
